Running under the spectacular peaks of the Drakensberg Mountains, the Drakensberg Marathon is an ideal Qualifier for both the Two Oceans Marathon and the Comrades Marathon.
Forming part of the annual Drakensberg Extravaganza this is a perfect weekend away enjoying the beautiful Drakensberg - a World Heritage site.

Registration and the Finish of the race is at the Bergville Sports Centre, Golf Road, Bergville.
Registration to collect race numbers and race shirts is Friday 22 November 2024 15:00 to 18:00 and Saturday 23 November 2024 04:00 - 05:00
The Start and Finish of all the races is at the Bergville Sports Center. The 42km, 21km and 10km Races all start at 05h30.
From the Bergville Sport centre - out and back
All Routes turn right onto the R74 and left onto the P288 and return the same way.
The 10km turns at the Rockdale Turn Off,
the 21km at the dam and
the 42km at the Dukuza Primary School.
=> Entries close 17:00 on Tuesday 19 November 2024. There are no late entries. No substitution will be permitted.
=> First 1000 entrants receive a quality moisture management race shirt.
=> All athletes must be licenced.
=> Licenced runners must wear their club colours together with their 2023 licence numbers on the front and back of their upper outer garment and the Drakensberg Marathon race number on the front of their upper outer garment. The race number must be placed over the licence number so that the province, year and ASA sponsor logo is visible.
=> Unlicenced athletes must wear a temporary licence. These athletes must wear plain colour clothing (with no advertising), the temporary licence on the back of their upper outer garment and the Drakensberg Marathon race number on the front of their upper outer garment. No licence number to be worn on shorts. Temporary
licence numbers will be available for collection at Registration. Temporary licences will also be sold at Registration.
=> The Drakensberg Marathon is held under the rules of WA, ASA and KZNA
=> All foreign athletes must comply with WA rule 4.2, rule 22.1 and rule 142 and ASA rule 9.
=> Entrants must be at least the following ages on the day of the race: 42KM - 20 Years, 21KM - 16 Years, 10KM - 14 Years
=> The ASA/KZNA approved numerical age category tags (60mm –80mm) must be worn on the back and front of athletes upper outer garment for those competing for category prizes. Junior athletes must be 19 years and younger on the 31 December in the year of the competition. Proof of age must be provided on request before or after the race.
=> A secure tog bag area will be available on the day of the race at the Bergville Sports Centre.
=> Athletes are to obey traffic officials, technical officials, event marshalls and safety officers at all times.
=> No personal seconding is allowed.
=> No blades or wheelchairs or mechanically operated devices are allowed
=> No ipods or any other form of earphone type device may be used during the race.
=> No pets are allowed in the race.
=> Entry fees shall not be refunded, cancelled returned or exchanged on account of weather or unforseen events occuring beyond the control of the event organisers, the race director, the host club or the sponsors.
=> The Drakensberg Marathon supports and promotes the clean running campaign. Please help our event and our sport and throw your coke bottles and water sachets in the bins provided.
